ASSAGETTI

ASSAGETTI

EXPERIENCE

Summary:
The food was good and for the usually expensive area of Haymarket, the reasonably priced Italian food (ranging from £3) is a bargain.

Good!

Situated in the heart of central London on the Haymarket, Assagetti is an Italian restaurant that seeks to bring traditional flavoursome Italian cuisine in a conversational and relaxing atmosphere.

The restaurant is a nicely set out venue over two levels with the lower area more suited for more family orientated dining with large wooden tables. With my partner in crime we opted for the traditional Italian idea of small plates of food hence the name “assagetti” that allows you to sample the various dishes.

An assortment of breads from focaccia to hazelnut bread sets things off nicely. For assagetti we went through a meatball based meal with a rich deep tomato sauce, to some brilliantly presented shrimps with heads served in a spicy garlic brandy sauce (Gamberi alla Griglia), to a beef Carpaccio served with shavings of parmesan cheese and olive oil.

We could have opted then for larger portions of the small meals we had tasted but in truth we had reached belly capacity. The food was good and for the usually expensive area of Haymarket, the reasonably priced Italian food (ranging from £3) is a bargain.
